The Coast to Coast Walk, at 192-miles long, is a popular long-distance walking route across the North of England.
Devised by Alfred Wainwright, the mostly un-signposted route passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park.
The Coast to Coast Walk starts at St Bees on the west coast of England and finishes at Robin Hood’s Bay on the east coast. Using public rights of way (public footpaths, tracks, and minor roads), permissive paths and access land; it is one of the most popular of all the long-distance footpaths in the UK.
Because Shap has only a handful of accommodation, finding coast to coast accommodation here can be difficult, especially in the peak season. So we suggest you book early!
The Greyhound Hotel is under new ownership following a full refurbishment and feedback from walkers is that they love the fact that we were on the route, avoiding any detours!
We offer bright and clean double & twin en-suite accommodation, and we are also pet-friendly. On the ground floor, we have a fantastic public bar and restaurant, offering a selection of real ales and frequently-updated menu.
