Coast to Coast Walk

The Greyhound Hotel is ideally situated for those on Wainwright's
Coast to Coast walk, being at the southern end of Shap village. The hotel has been welcoming tired and weary walkers for many years where a roaring fire, a pint of ale or two and a comfortable bed is appreciated! In the morning, the hotel's sumptuous Cumbrian
breakfast gives you the start you need for another day's walking.

Withnail & I

Are you a fan of the cult film Withnail & I? Crow Crag, the country retreat of Uncle Monty featured in the film, is about one hour's walk away. Called Sleddale Hall, it is situated above Wet Sleddale
Reservoir, just south of the village. You can also drive to the car park
of the reservoir and follow the public footpaths, which is a shorter walk. The building is currently in a derelict state so please take care. 		Walk the Coast to Cast and stay at the Greyhound!
